Purpose and Reason:

This amended rule, formerly entitled Social Security Benefits (SSA), outlines the procedures for identifying children and youth eligible for Retirement, Survivors, Disability Insurance (RSDI) through the United States Social Security Administration, as well as, internal Department of Children, Youth and Family procedures for applying for and managing these funds. In the amendment of this rule, consideration was given to the following: (1) alternative approaches and (2) overlap or duplication with other statutory and regulatory provisions. No alternative approach or duplication or overlap was identified based upon available information. No changes were made to the proposed rule except editing changes.
